Employment Opportunity: Part-Time Code Enforcement Official

Are you someone who values a flexible schedule and desires to work to maintain the quality of the community? The Village of Grayslake is seeking applicants for a part-time Code Enforcement Official position to work approximately 15 hours per week.

Weekly hours will vary by season.  The starting rate of pay is $25 +/- per hour.  This is non-benefit position. 

With support of the Building Commissioner, duties primarily include: administering established processes to work with residents to achieve compliance related to routine property maintenance, proactively inspecting the community to identify property maintenance issues and working with residents to achieve satisfactory outcomes. 

This position requires an effective communicator who is outgoing, organized, self-motivated and dependable.  The successful applicant will have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple work items and other responsibilities simultaneously.  Daily interaction with residents and Village staff will occur on a regular basis. 

This is a non-technical position that does not require detailed knowledge of building codes.  This position will deal primarily with routine property maintenance items that are easily identifiable through visual inspections. Minimum of bachelor’s degree or extensive relevant equivalent work experience, is preferred. Previous experience and/or familiarity with municipal ordinances is a plus.
