1. When and where are the Village Board meetings held?

Village Board meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at Village Hall unless otherwise announced. (Scheduled subject to change.) View the

2. Where is Village Hall located?

The Village Hall is located at 10 South Seymour Avenue downtown in the Village Center, just west of the railroad tracks.

3. What are the Village Hall hours?

The Village Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may change for various holidays.

4. I am a new resident, how do I set-up water/sewer service?

You can call the Request for Service at (847) 223-8515 or use the Request 4 Service System.

5. How do I pay my water bill?

You can mail your payment along with your invoice to our lockbox at: Village of Grayslake P.O. Box 1217 Bedford Park, IL 60499-1217 Payments can also be dropped off at Village Hall during regular business hours or placed in our overnight drop box located in the parking lot just north of our entrance. You can also pay online by logging into the Utility Bill Management System.

6. How do I find out what my current balance is?

Call the Village of Grayslake at 847-223-8515 or log into the Utility Bill Management System.

7. How often will I receive a bill?

Bills are generated on the first of each month and sent out within the first five days of the month.

8. When is my water bill payment due?

Previous balances are due the 15th of the month, current balances are due the 29th of the month.

9. Can I make a water bill payment over the phone?

Customer payments can be made over the phone by calling (844)-463-8922.  Customers will need their 12-digit account number to pay using this method.

10. Can I pay my bill with a credit card?

Yes, you can use Visa, MasterCard, or Discover in person or online with the Utility Bill Management System, however this method requires 48 hours to post. 

11. My house is vacant but I still received a bill. Why?

Even if there is no water usage for a given period, there is still a minimum bill per Village Ordinance. The minimum bills fees are associated with the maintenance of
your water system and the administrative costs of managing your account.

12. How do you read my meter?

Water meters are equipped with radio transmitters. Computers in the Public Works vehicles send signals to the transmitter on your meter, that in turn sends back a reading. Every meter has different identifying numbers; the individual meter number, a transmitter number as well as a unique frequency. All of these ensure accurate readings.

13. What is the unit of measurement used?

Your water is measured in gallons, and consumption is billed in thousands of gallons.

14. Why is my bill higher than normal?

If your personal consumption habits have not changed a leak may be the culprit of excessive usage. Read our Leak Detection brochure for helpful hints.

15. I’m selling my house what should I do?

Notify the Village of any billing changes at (847) 223-8515, and ask for a final reading to be made. Be prepared to provide your forwarding address, phone number and closing date.
